Authenticity Matters
How to Spot a Counterfeit UNIC Blade
In the world of competitive fencing, your equipment is an extension of your body. Precision, balance, and reliability aren't just buzzwords—they are the requirements for a winning hit. The growing popularity of UNIC blades has led to an influx of counterfeit products in the market.
While these fakes might look similar at a glance, they lack the specialized engineering and safety standards that define our brand. A counterfeit blade isn't just a poor investment; it’s a safety risk on the strip. To protect our community, we have put together this comprehensive guide to help you distinguish a genuine UNIC blade from a fake.
Important: A Note on Regional Distribution
First and foremost, please be aware of our distribution policy. UNIC does not sell blades in Russia or Belarus. We have no authorized dealers or partners in these regions. Any blade purchased through channels in these countries is guaranteed to be a counterfeit. UNIC cannot provide warranty support or safety guarantees for these unauthorized products.
The 10 Key Differences
Use this checklist to verify your equipment. If a blade fails even one of these points, it is likely a fake.
Stiffness Options
Genuine UNIC blades offer a choice between Medium (M) and Hard (H) stiffness to suit unique styles.
Precision Weight
In a sport where milliseconds matter, every gram counts. A genuine UNIC blade is engineered to be roughly 10g lighter.
Logo and Branding
On a real UNIC blade, the logo is sharp, clearly defined, and executed with high-precision engraving.
Edge Geometry
UNIC blades feature edges that are thinner and meticulously rounded for safety and longevity.
Surface Finishing
Original UNIC blades undergo a rigorous finishing process, resulting in a high-quality, consistent surface.
Serial Number Authentication
Every authentic UNIC blade is marked with a unique alphanumeric serial number (letters + numbers).
Structural Symmetry
UNIC blades are inspected for perfect alignment. Symmetry is the soul of a well-balanced blade.
The Ukrainian Trident
Since December 12, 2025, the Ukrainian Trident (Coat of Arms) is a mandatory marker on all authentic UNIC blades.
Blade Width
Our design focuses on a slim profile. A genuine UNIC blade is noticeably sleeker than a fake.
Internal Dimensions
Internal fitment is refined. On fakes, the distance from tang to groove is often incorrect.
